Welcome to AfriPearl (the "Service"), operated via the website afripearl.com (the "Platform").
The Service allows men and women from around the world to connect with the goal of building serious, long-term relationships and, where applicable, marriage.
By creating an account, you ("the User") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is operated from France. These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable in your country of residence.

Age is self-reported during registration, and the Platform enforces the 18+ minimum stated above at the time of account creation. This age confirmation is separate from the optional identity verification described in Sections 3.2 and 3.3, which uses a government-issued document but does not itself extract or verify date of birth.
Registration on the Platform is free for everyone (men and women). A free account allows you to:

A man may purchase Afripearl Premium (see Section 5) by paying the subscription. Premium activation is not conditioned on identity verification.
Separately, and available to any Premium Man who wishes to complete it, Afripearl offers an optional identity verification process using a valid government-issued ID. Where a man chooses to complete it, the ID is used to:

Where this optional verification is completed, the ID is deleted within 7 days. Only metadata is retained (same fields as Featured Woman, plus Premium status active/inactive).

Users must not engage in, facilitate, aid, abet, encourage, promote, solicit, or otherwise support human trafficking, sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, or the abuse or exploitation of any person. This prohibition applies regardless of whether the conduct occurs on the Platform or is merely arranged, discussed, or referenced through it.
AfriPearl is not, and shall never be, a platform for prostitution, escorting, or any form of paid sexual or financial arrangement. Any user found engaging in such conduct, or in the trafficking, abuse, or exploitation described above, will be immediately and permanently banned, without refund, and may be reported to competent authorities.
Afripearl Premium — 9.99 USD per month
You acknowledge that AfriPearl does not guarantee any specific outcome (match, relationship, marriage) and does not engage in matchmaking, selection, or recommendation.
Refunds are subject to mandatory consumer law. If you are a consumer residing in the European Union or European Economic Area, you may have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days from the date of purchase under EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU. Where you expressly request that AfriPearl begin providing Afripearl Premium immediately, the effect of that request on your withdrawal right depends on the applicable law and on the specific consent or acknowledgment obtained from you at the time of purchase; AfriPearl does not claim to override mandatory consumer protection law through these Terms. To ask about a refund or to exercise any applicable withdrawal right, email contact@afripearl.com.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By paying, you accept Stripe's own Terms of Service.
AfriPearl never stores your full credit card information. AfriPearl only stores the transaction ID, the amount paid, the date, the pricing tier, and the last 4 digits of the card (via Stripe).
All prices are displayed and charged in US Dollars (USD). Local taxes (VAT, etc.) may apply depending on your country of residence and will be displayed at checkout.
A Featured Woman receives no salary, no commission, and no contractual payment from AfriPearl.
In recognition of the use of her image and her time, she may receive occasional discretionary goodwill gestures from AfriPearl (for example, a contribution to her phone bill or a gift). These gestures, where offered, are unrelated to any date, introduction, match, message, or in-person meeting, are never contractual, and never represent a salary or fixed compensation.
A Featured Woman is never required to accept any introduction request, to engage in any conversation, or to meet any user in person. She remains free at all times.
By accepting Featured Woman status, you grant AfriPearl a non-exclusive, worldwide, transferable license to use your photos, videos, voice, and first name (or chosen pseudonym) for promotional purposes on:
This license is granted for a duration of 5 years, automatically renewable for one additional 5-year period unless you withdraw your consent in writing.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing contact@afripearl.com. Upon withdrawal:
Withdrawal does not affect the legality of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
A detailed Consent Form is provided separately and signed by each Featured Woman before activation.
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy (available at /privacy), which is an integral part of these Terms.
The Platform is GDPR-compliant. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. To exercise them, email contact@afripearl.com.
AfriPearl reserves the right to:
AfriPearl does not actively monitor private chat content but may review reported content. Users are encouraged to report any abuse via contact@afripearl.com.
AfriPearl is only a technical platform that allows users to connect. AfriPearl:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AfriPearl's total liability is limited to the amount paid by the user during the last 12 months.
AfriPearl shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
AfriPearl is not liable for any failure or delay due to events beyond its reasonable control (natural disasters, war, pandemics, telecommunications failures, etc.).
Your account remains active until you choose to delete it. There is no automatic expiry date for standard user accounts.
You may delete your account at any time via the Platform settings or by emailing contact@afripearl.com. Account deletion is effective within 30 days. Paid subscriptions must be canceled separately before account deletion to avoid further billing.
AfriPearl may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, applicable law, or engage in conduct harmful to other users or to the Platform.
In case of termination for breach, no refund is granted.
AfriPearl may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified to users by email and/or via a notice on the Platform at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Previous versions of these Terms are available upon request by emailing contact@afripearl.com.
Before any legal action, both parties agree to attempt amicable resolution by email within 30 days.
For any complaint concerning the Service, users should first contact Afripearl at contact@afripearl.com.
These Terms are governed by French law. The competent court is the court of the Operator's place of business in Paris, France, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
The Service is not available to residents or citizens of the United States of America.
This restriction is due to the regulatory framework of the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act (IMBRA, 2005), which imposes specific obligations (federal background checks, sex offender registry checks, translated consent disclosures, etc.) that AfriPearl does not currently support in V1.
If you are a US resident or citizen, you must not create an account on the Platform. Any account identified as US-based may be suspended without notice and without refund.
A future version of the Service may be made available to US residents under a fully IMBRA-compliant framework.
